There’s a saying that goes, “Faith is seeing light with your heart when all your eyes see is darkness.”
This is certainly true and applies when you’re trying to build a business, facing problems, hiccups, disappointments and other ‘turbulence’ is unavoidable.
Most people quit and run the other way once things seem to not be working out.
They lose hope and throw in the towel.
They do not believe success is within their reach and they assume that it’s not possible.
Why?
Because they’ve lost faith.
Is there any other explanation for this? Hmmmm…
A loss of faith in one’s Self is the number one reason most people quit on themselves.
The promise isn’t clear to them so they’re not willing to pay the price.
However, the people who are single-minded and cannot see anything but themselves reaching their goal will often weather the storms and obstacles to get to where they want to go and they almost always reach their goals.
Faith is of paramount importance.
It means taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.
For those of us who are familiar with the Indiana Jones movies…do you remember that scene where he has to cross a massive gorge and there is no bridge or walkway?
Yet he needs to make the first step before the walkway appears and he finds the ground is solid beneath his feet.
The 4 tips listed below will help you shore up your faith when doubts come knocking on your door:
Tip 1: Visualize your success.
Some people call it the law of attraction. Others call it ‘The Secret’. Whatever you want to call it… what really matters is that you do it.
Close your eyes and see yourself reaching your goals and attaining your heartfelt desires.
Believe that you’ll get them and live with an attitude that your success is just around the corner.
This will keep you feeling upbeat and the constant repetition will give you focus and help you remember why you are doing what you’re doing.
Tip 2: Prayer is powerful.
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”
(Hebrews 11:1).
This verse is one of my absolute favorites.
The terms ‘substance’ and ‘evidence’ refer to that which is MATERIAL.
That which you can interact with through your five senses.
Yet you are using other senses to bring that which is non-material into the material realm.
While this prayer tip might not apply to everyone, if you do believe in God, even if that God is your Self, there is immeasurable power in prayer.
You will be placing your faith and hopes in a higher power and this will lift some of the burdens weighing on you.
That higher power is NOT external to you.
It doesn’t matter what religion you follow.
Or even if you call yourself “spiritual”.
It’s the action of having hope and faith that the God within you will help you which is what truly matters.
Tip 3: Read autobiographies of successful people.
It’s an excellent idea to read autobiographies of successful people.
You’ll be able to see how much failure they encountered and how they kept going.
Also, you’ll be able to identify with them and realize that the path to success is not a smooth one.
If they could achieve success, so can you.
This will bolster your faith in yourself and your faith will be bigger than your fears of failure.
Tip 4: Motivate yourself regularly.
The famous motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar once said,
People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.
Zig Ziglar
He’s right.
It’s easy to lose motivation and faith over time.
Once the initial excitement of starting on a new goal starts to get dull, most people quit.
By constantly motivating yourself, you’ll keep going.
Read books or listen to motivational speakers.
While some people will scoff and say that it’s all ‘feel good’ stuff… just know that it will you if you give it a chance.
Building a successful business is not easy.
If it was, everybody would do it.
So, have faith in yourself and know that if you stay the course, success is inevitable.
To succeed, you must first believe that you can and then you will.
PS: remember, the doubts will come. Like I said in another post: you cannot stop the birds from flying about your head. However, you can stop them from making a nest in it. It is YOUR head!

Kudos to the artist…
